The correct body posture can change your life

Did you ever wonder, what is the key ingredient of confidence? What helps one think more clearly?

Well, the answer to this is simple! It is, the correct body posture. Studies conducted in the past shows that people who sat up straight were more confident, less nervous and more focused. They had a higher retention ratio and were better qualified for most jobs. They appeared more serious and fit descriptions for the company's positions.

Those who would slump were more likely to have a shorter focus span and appeared to be less confident and more nervous. Richard Petty from Ohio State University shows through his studies that our body posture does not only affect what others think of us, but also of what we think of, of ourselves.

Petty conducted a study with a graduate student from Ohio State University where randomly selected students were asked to answer a few multiple choice questions. It was found that students who sat up straight were more confident of there first selected answer while those who would slump were more likely to be indecisive between answer options.

Most people use internet, surf the net and watch movies, each of these form of media shows a type of body image that is noted. Every girl wants to be thin enough to disappear and every guy wants to gain muscles and get a 6-pack abs. People rely on these sources for their information. But to be able to abide by these body images one works out so much that they strain their muscles or damage their joints. Standing and working... the new trend in business

“Studies now show that even for those who work out during the day, prolonged sitting can increase the long-term risk of illness or death.”

“Since 2003, several of Hamilton's studies have found that physical inactivity, such as sitting, can impair key mechanisms in the body that regulate fat and cholesterol metabolism — changes that aren't reversed by exercise. Sitting also dramatically reduces contractions or electrical activity in skeletal muscles, because the chair is supporting the body's weight, Hamilton said.”
-Julie Deardorff, Chicago Tribune reporter
If those statements alone don’t scare you then I don’t know what will. Julie Deardroff’s (Chicago Tribune) article “Sedentary office workers try standing desks” really opens your eyes to potential health risks that can come with sitting and being ‘sedentary’ for an extended period of time.

Here at Body Mission Furniture our goal is to create a healthy productive work environment. We have a desk in the works that is the answer to this problem. With our desk you can go from sitting to standing in seconds! We highly recommend our desk. You don’t have to stand all day, but taking turns from sitting to standing throughout the day would benefit your health greatly.
